Ghana's petrol prices are expected to climb to an average of GH¢16.26 per litre starting Wednesday, September 16, according to a warning from the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) reported by Yen News. The projection points to higher costs at the pump for drivers across the country.
The anticipated increase has prompted calls for government intervention. According to GhanaWeb, lawmaker Egyapa Mercer has urged that Ghanaians be given a GH¢5 fuel relief, arguing it should come from higher oil revenue. The report frames the proposal as a way to cushion consumers against the projected price rise.
Separately, UA.NEWS reported that Ghana is forecasting higher petrol and diesel prices from September 16, aligning with COPEC's projection. Peacefmonline.com also carried the COPEC figure, stating that petrol prices are expected to rise to an average of GH¢16.26 per litre from Wednesday.
